Kim Kardashian and Kanye West: A look back at their relationship

Ulrika Jonsson has admitted she has a lot of empathy for Kanye West as the dust settles on his marriage to Kim Kardashian.

And reading reports about how the former couple celebrated their youngest daughter’s 4th birthday at opposite sides of Kylie Jenner’s garden reminded her of tensions she has herself experienced with the fathers of her four kids.

Writing in her column for The Sun, the mum-of-four said: “This was a reminder of how horrendous those early days after a break-up can be.

“There will be a decent chunk of people preparing to navigate that same landscape of trying to behave in a civil manner while still wanting to rage at their ex, and continuing, in the short-term, to share the territory that was once the family home.

“And it is difficult. Emotionally but perhaps more so physically and domestically.”

Last week the 44-year-old rapper was filmed at Chicago’s party despite previously complaining about not being given the address.

After uncovering the bash’s location thanks to Travis Scott, Kanye turned up to Kylie Jenner’s Hidden Hills home to enjoy some quality time with his daughter.

It has been claimed that Kanye spent around an hour at the party and stayed apart from the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star.

“He seemed okay once he started talking to the family and was in great spirits laughing and playing with Chicago, it seems he just wanted to be involved in her day and didn’t want to cause trouble,” the insider told The Sun on Sunday.

“There was no scene between him and Kim but they did spend most of the afternoon at other ends of the garden. He chatted with Kris and some other family members but there was no deep discussion with Kim yet.”

The couple went their separate ways in early 2021

Kanye was initially forbidden from entering the party by security guards, which echoed a similar situation that played out when he tried to enter the formal marital home to drop his kids home from school.

The couple are parents to North, eight, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, two.

He said: “Earlier this week, Monday, when I went to go pick my kids up from school, the security stopped me at the gate.

“So at that point, security was in between me and my children and that’s what was not going to happen.”

His daughter North asked him to go inside with her but security wouldn’t let him do so. He added that he and Kim never discussed the restrictions.

Again, this resonated with Ulrika who had one of her ex-husbands move in to a property across the road from the family home – just like Kim and Kanye.

But this time, she fully understands why Kim would want to impose strong boundaries.

She said: “My ex-husband ended up living just across the road and still had a key to our family home for ages. This was, in large part, because we co-parented well and I wanted the transition to be as seamless as it could possibly be for the children’s sake.

Ulrika said that when her ex visited she would ‘growl’ under her breath at him

“But my feelings of agitation the second he was at the house must have been clear to everyone, no matter how much I tried to hide them.

“He would still pop upstairs as if he still lived there, and I could hear myself growling under my breath behind my civil smile.

“It was ungraceful and unseemly. But at the time I needed him to be away from me, removed from my personal space, not around.”
